Elon Musk Brags as Video Shows Tesla Truck Beating a Lamborghini

Elon Musk has boasted about the prowess of his electric vehicles after a video emerged which appears to show a Tesla Cybertruck scorching a supercar over a short distance.
The video was originally posted on X by @Am-Blujay on Monday before being shared by internet personality Mario Nawfal, on whose account it has already amassed 6.5 million views since early Tuesday morning.
It shows what appears to be a Lamborghini Temerario approaching traffic signals, slowing down as a Cybertruck pulls up beside it. The two drivers exchange some words, the Lamborghini revving its engine before both jetting off down the street as onlookers filmed the drag race.
The Cybertruck immediately pulled ahead and maintained a lead over the supercar for the roughly 150-meter contest. Many in the comments were impressed by the electric pickup’s pace, one user commenting: “Electric cars are a lot faster than people realize.”
Another wrote: “The electric torque is absolutely unmatched. Pretty cool to reach a ~2 second 60 Mph… in the most bullet proof truck.”
The video was shared by X owner and Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who said that his CyberTruck’s capabilities surpassed even those displayed in the brief clip.
He wrote: “Cybertruck can beat a Porsche 911 while towing a Porsche 911!”
Musk was referencing a viral video from late 2023, in which the truck appeared to outpace one of Porsche’s fastest models while another Porsche 911 was attached to its trailer hitch.
However, many have cast doubt on the truthfulness of the video, published on Tesla’s YouTube channel in December only one month after the first Cybertrucks were delivered to customers.
A video analysis from Engineering Explained, a vehicle-focused YouTube channel, said that Musk’s claim that the Cybertruck is, in general “faster than a 911.”
Tesla’s website lists the Cybertruck’s top speed as 130 miles per hour, while Porsche’s 911 Carrera T, the car in Tesla’s video, is listed as maxing out at 181 mph.
“There is no world where, stock to stock, the Cybertruck is faster as in higher top speed,” the presenter said.
An article in MotorTrend also questioned whether the video, clearly a promotional effort by Tesla for its newest vehicle, was manufactured to make the Cybertruck look more impressing than it was in reality.
“While Tesla did show the full, unedited race from four angles, that wouldn’t stop the Porsche 911 driver—presumably a Tesla employee—from ensuring the Cybertruck won. If the race was as close as Tesla’s video suggested, a soft launch, a slow shift, or a slight lift of the accelerator in the Porsche could be the difference between a Tesla loss and a victory.”
MotorTrend resorted to recreating the quarter-mile drag race six times; the results refuting Musk’s lofty claim.
“We ran six quarter-mile drag races, and each one had the same outcome: The Porsche 911 Carrera T wins and the Tesla Cybertruck Beast loses,” Motortrend reported. “In the world of drag racing, it’s not a particularly close race, either.”
